Eco-Friendly Solution To The Plastic Crisis

I’m sure you’ve already noticed that our world has become overrun by plastic products. They are virtually everywhere at this point & are something I recommend my clients become more aware of reducing in their personal environments.

Not only is plastic destroying our planet from an environmental standpoint but the components of plastic have been proven to be poisons that disrupt proper hormonal function.

Take an inventory of the amount of plastic you use on a daily basis & see where you could limit exposure. For example, take your own fabric bags to the grocery store & choose to use a norwex bath cloth instead of buying a big plastic jug of body wash next time you’re in need.

If you have never looked into what is in your tap water supply, you can do that here at the Environmental Working Group Water Database.

REASONS TO AVOID BOTTLED WATER

By far the easiest way to reduce daily plastic exposure is by discontinuing the purchasing & consumption of bottled water. Not only will you reduce a major amount of toxins, but you will also save tons of money by doing this as well! Most bottled water is just tap water bottled & sold to consumers. The bottles are causing hormonal & reproductive harm but the water inside is also just dead, contaminated water that’s been baking under the sun inside delivery trucks & warehouses.

If you have never looked into what is in your tap water supply, you can do that here at the Environmental Working Group Water Database. We all need a legit solution to the toxic crisis that is on our hands & in our homes.

Pollution

  • The entire life cycle of bottled water uses fossil fuels, contributes to global warming, and causes pollution.

  • More than 17 million barrels of oil are required to produce enough plastic water bottles to meet America’s annual demand for bottled water. - Earth-policy.org, “Bottled Water: Pouring Resources Down the Drain”

  • “According to the Container Recycling Institute, 86 percent of plastic water bottles used in the United States become garbage or litter.” - Earth-policy.org, “Bottled Water: Pouring Resources Down the Drain”

COST SAVINGS

Cost

  • Bottled water is about 3,000 percent more expensive per gallon than tap water.

  • Tap water: $0.02 per gallon

  • Bottled water: $0.64 per gallon

- Harvard Engineering and Utilities and Poland Springs

MYTH: Bottled Water is Purer than Tap Water

  • “Bottled water generally is no cleaner, or safer, or healthier than tap water. In fact, the federal government requires far more rigorous and frequent safety testing and monitoring of municipal drinking water.” -foodandwaterwatch.org, “Take Back the Tap"

HEALTH FACTORS

Check out this shocking documentary showing the dangers of plastics on the developmental systems of humans & animals. If this doesn’t convince you to lessen your exposure to plastic products & improve your water quality, I don’t know what else will!

Years ago, my family committed to stopping buying single water bottles at convenience stores & big packs at the grocery store. Instead, we invested in a high-quality system that hooks up to our kitchen faucet & provides the highest quality, antioxidant-rich water we were able to find.

We use reusable stainless steel bottles & tumblers so we always have water on the go. We now never have to spend money on water again, besides basic system & filter maintenance when needed. We can even take our water on airplanes & through TSA, since it comes from a true medical device!

It’s really been a blessing for keeping our family in the healthiest & most financially stable way long term.
